Pune residents will enjoy an extended long weekend as Monday, September 16, has been declared a holiday in observance of Eid-E-Milad. This announcement by District Collector Suhas Diwase adds to the extended break, as Tuesday is already a holiday for Anant Chaturdashi.
With the Ganesh Visarjan on Tuesday causing road closures, most private and government offices have announced additional holidays, and many are also observing a half-day on Wednesday to accommodate the extended celebrations.

The long weekend is expected to boost tourism, with many Pune residents planning short trips to nearby destinations. Tourist spots around the city are likely to see a surge in visitors, and travelers are anticipated to head out to highways to bypass the city and enjoy the extended break.
